Tenemos nuevamente la oportunidad de entrevistar a Sonata Arctica, esta vez sobre el lo que fue su gira con “Pariah's Child” y el Tour que nuevamente los traerá a nuestro país en el próximo mes de marzo.

ENTREVISTA TONY KAKKO – LEONES SIN JAULA
1- Como te estas preparando para el mas tour mas grande que haras en Sudamerica?
Principalmente intento descansar un poco y juntar fuerzas. La banda esta en muy buena condicion y con buena salud asi que no podemos esperar!
2- Como podrias definir tu tour en Estados Unidos, la recepcion, los lugares? Habias tocado alli antes?
Si, tocamos por lo menos una docena de veces en los Estados Unidos, la recepcion fue grandiosa. Es realmente importante hoy en dia tener un gran soporte, bueno y fuerte, y esta vez tuvimos suerte de tener grandes bandas soporte con nosotros, Delain y Xandria de Netherlands. Hicimos 34 shows en 7 semanas durante el ultimo otoño, incluyendo el show en Puerto Rico. Los lugares fueron pequeños clubs de rock, algunos de ellos fueron un poco mas grandes.
Tony filmo un video del cover I Can’t Dance mostrandonos hacer tonterias y no sabiendo como bailar, naturalmente. Durante esas 7 semanas el sonido de la banda y la manera de tocar fue realmente justa y compacta. Nos dio un buen sentido de que canciones son fuertes y con cuales nos sentimos mas confidentes.
3- Tenes planes para grabar un Dvd aca en Argentina o un tour a travez de el continente?
En este momento no estamos hacienda grabaciones en vivo. En el futuro obviamente esperamos hacer un Dvd, y Argentina es una muy buena opcion para nosotros porque las vibras son fuertes y la multitud es intensa! Todavia no decidimos cuando vamos a grabar el Dvd. Sudamerica en si parece ser una buena opcion, tal vez Argentina! Con respecto al tour, tenemos a nuestra gente, managers, agentes y promotores trabajando en cosas la verdad no puedo decirte como las cosas estan involucrandose con el tour en Argentina.
4- Como podes definir al publico Argentino que esta ahi en cada visita?
El soporte de los fans en Argentina es inmenso y lo amamos. Siempre es bueno regresar aqui. Recibimos muchos regalos de los fans. Se siente muy calido y nos sentimos bienvenidos. El clima parece ser agradable tambien, la comida y todo, genial!
5- Por que Sonata Arctica paso a travez de tantos cambiso de estilo durante todos estos años?
Respetamos a los fans y no queremos cambiar mucho las cosas. Creo que hacemos cosas mas raras a veces pero todavia podes escuchar las vibras de Sonata en cada cancion. Por supuesto que es saludable intentar nuevas cosas por nuestro bienestar mental, pero tambien somos concientes de cuales son nuestros puntos fuertes y como usarlos y combinar lo bueno. Siempre tenemos que pensar en que aspectos Sonata es fuerte y creo que ahora que estamos poniendonos un poco viejos empezamos a estar mas concientes de nosotros tambien. Pero la respuesta a tu pregunta seria si tambien es asi en la vida, las cosas no van a suceder su solo te quedas quieto o detenes el progreso de las cosas. Tenes que moverte y pelarte la piel de sol a sol. Asi es la vida. Y puede ser el secreto de la larga existencia en las bandas.
6- Estando juntos por 15 años o mas como banda, cual es la formula para permanecer juntos y seguir creciendo año traz año?
El secreto para un matrimonio duradero es que la esposa siempre esta en lo correcto. Si adaptas eso a una banda, recorda que el quien manda esta siempre en lo correcto. Solo estaba bromeando! Pero deben respetarse unos a otros y realmente disfrutar lo que estan haciendo porque a veces la vida en la ruta puede ser muy dura. Los shows son siempre grandiosos pero aun asi eso no es suficiente para algunos. Tenes que tener pasion. Otra cosa que se me viene a la mentee s que tenes que aprender de tus errores. Siempre trata de hacer tu trabajo un poco mejor.
7- Que vas a estar promoviendo en el proximo show en Argentina, tu ultimo disco o los hits clasicos van a estar tambien incluidos?
Por supuesto que vamos a tocar mas canciones del album “Pariah’s Child”. Tambien la enfasis va a estar en “Ecliptica” ya que la re-grabacion fue hecha hace un tiempo. Asi que estamos exibiendo lo mas nuevo ahora. Es tambien una buena diversion agregar alguna que otra sorpresa al set. Vamos a ver que se nos ocurre esta vez. Supongo que estaremos tocando 4 o 5 nuevas canciones por noche asi que es muy agradable.
INTERVIEW TONY KAKKO – LEONES SIN JAULA
1- How are you preparing for the biggest tour you’ve ever made in South America?
Basically try to rest a bit and gather strength. The band is in real good condition and good health so we just can't wait!
2- How could you define your U.S. Tour, the reception, the venues? Have you ever played before in the U.S.?
Yes, we've played at least a dozen times in the US. The reception was great. It´s really important nowadays to have a good and strong support and this time we were lucky to have great support bands with us, Delain and Xandria from The Netherlands. We did 34 shows in 7 weeks last Fall, including the show in Puerto Rico. The venues were small rock clubs, some of them were a bit bigger.
Tony shot a music video from the cover song I Can´t Dance showing us goofing around and not knowing how to dance, naturally. During that 7 weeks the band's sound and playing got real tight and compact. It gave us a good sense of what songs are strong and on what we feel most confident.
3- Do you have plans of shooting a DVD here in Argentina or making a tour within the country?
At this time we are not doing any live recordings. In the future we obviously will do hopefully a dvd, and Argentina is a really a good option for us because the vibes are strong in Argentina and the crowd is so hot! We haven´t decided where we a re going to shoot the dvd. South
America in all seems to be a good choice, maybe Argentina! About the tour, we have our men, managers, agents and promoters working on things so I really can't tell you how things are right now concerning the Argentina tour.
4- How would you define the Argentinian crowd which is always there in every visit?
The fan support in Argentina is huge and we love it. It´s always nice to come back there. We get a lot of gifts from the fans. It feels warm inside and we feel very welcomed. The weather seems to be nice also, and food and everything, great!
5- Why has Sonata Arctica been through a change of style during all these years?
We respect the fans and don't want to change things too much. I guess we do a bit more weird stuff sometimes but you can still hear the Sonata vibes on every song. Of course it is really healthy to try some new stuff out at least for the sake of our mental health, but also to be aware of what our strong points are and to use and combine all the good aspects. We always have to think on what aspects Sonata is strong and I believe now when we are starting to be a bit older we are starting to be more aware of ourselves too. But the answer to you question would be that as in life too, things are not happening just to if you stay still or stop the progress of things. You have to move on and peel your skin from time to time. That's just life. And could be very well the secret of the bands long existence.
6- Standing together for 15 years or more as a band, what’s the formula to stick together and keep growing up year by year?
The secret of long marriage is that the wife is always right. If you adapt that to a band, remember that the boss is always right. Well just kidding, but you have to respect one another and really enjoy what you are doing cause sometimes life on the road can be really tough. The shows are always great but even that is not enough for some. You got to have passion. Another thing that comes in mind is that you have to learn from your mistakes. Always try to do your job a little bit better.
7- What will you be promoting in the upcoming show in Argentina, your last record or classic hits will be also included?
Of course we are playing more songs from "Pariah´s Child" album. Also the emphasis will be on "Ecliptica" as well since the re-recording has been out now for a while. So we are marketing those new releases now. It´s also a good fun to add some cool surprise stuff to the set. Let´s see what we can think of this time. I suppose we are playing 4 to 5 new songs per night so it´s pretty nice.
